Beautiful castle, delicious food, comfortable and cozy rooms. High quality service.
Located in a quite but quite picturesque village where you easily can spend time walking around. The hotel is really cosy and well designed in it renovation. The old building is today looking like a brand new building and the rooms are …
The grounds. The room. The service. The food.||||All perfect.||||We arrived late. Around 8 pm and asked if we could still order dinner. (The kitchen closes at 9.) Torsten (the server/maitre d/sommelier/mineral bath purveyor) and Bjorn …
Enjoyed an fabulous stay with excellent food and very good service. Highly recommended.
Like so many other historic houses in Germany this one has been over renovated. Today it lacks any real period charm amidst the glare of DDR style soulless light fittings, fake 'original' wall patches, plastic chairs and endless walls of contemporary greyish paint. The staff were attentive and efficient but not engaging. Dinner was fair and imaginative but not a bargain. Breakfast was reasonable but not spectacular. The public spaces were clinical in order and cleanliness but not inviting. Historic houses should be more quirky - filled with creaking floor boards, gloomy oil paintings and dusty books. Where old sofas nestle alongside open fires and grandfather clocks tick majestically in the background. Historic houses should transport the client into the past but sadly this one is a reminder that our century has not only lost its soul but also its connection with the past. I wonder if a real historic house hotel still exists in Germany.
Perfect hideaway!
